Rheumocam 15 mg/mL oral suspension for cattle Indications
For alleviation of pain and inflammation following surgical and band castration in cattle.
Dosage and Administration
Shake the content well before use. Single oral administration of 1.0 mg meloxicam/kg body weight (10 mL/150 kg) should be administered approximately 1-2 hours prior to castration procedure. Using a dosing syringe, ensure the entire dose is administered at the back of the tongue to avoid spillage.Contraindications
Do not use in animals with gastrointestinal disorders such as irritation and hemorrhage, impaired hepatic, cardiac or renal function and hemorrhagic disorders or where there is individual hypersensitivity to the product.
Do not administer concurrently with steroidal, other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or with anti-coagulant agents.
Cautions: Avoid use in very severely dehydrated, hypovolemic or hypotensive animals which require parenteral rehydration, as there may be a potential risk of increased renal toxicity.
Use of anti-inflammatories in very young or debilitated animals may involve additional risk.
Treatment of calves with meloxicam before castration reduces post-operative pain. An anti-inflammatory alone will not provide adequate pain relief during the castration procedure. To obtain adequate pain relief during surgery co-medication with an appropriate analgesic is recommended. Concomitant use of NSAID’s with aminoglycoside antimicrobials in very young animals may result in renal toxicity.
Warnings

Do not use in lactating dairy cattle.
Do not use in calves to be processed for veal as a withdrawal period has not been established for pre-ruminating calves.
Adverse Reactions
If you notice any adverse events please report them to the manufacturer or your veterinarian.Pharmacology

Plasma levels of meloxicam reached therapeutic values approximately two hour post administration. Therapeutic levels were seen for approximately 56 hours post dosing.
