EQUINE RHINOPNEUMONITIS VACCINE, KILLED VIRUS

An inactivated, concentrated, adjuvanted, tissue culture origin equine herpesvirus type 1 (EHV-1) vaccine.

Prestige Prodigy Indications

This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy horses 6 months of age or older against abortion and respiratory disease caused by EHV-1. For more information regarding safety and efficacy data, go to productdata.aphis.usda.gov.

DOSE: For pregnant mares administer a 2 mL dose intramuscularly in the 5th, 7th and 9th months of pregnancy. Three doses are essential for primary immunization. Maiden and barren mares housed or pastured with pregnant mares should be vaccinated on the same schedule. For primary vaccination against respiratory disease administer three 2 mL doses intramuscularly at 4 to 6 week intervals. Historically, annual revaccination with this product has been recommended. The need for annual booster vaccination has not been established for this product. A booster dose can be administered at more frequent intervals based upon individual horse or farm disease risk assessment or any time epidemic conditions exist or are reported. Consult your veterinarian.

CAUTIONS: Store at 2°-8°C (35°-46°F). Shake well before using. Use entire contents when first opened. Do not mix with other products. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter. Local reaction may occur if this product is given subcutaneously. Inject deep into the muscle only. Anaphylactic reactions may occur. If allergic reaction occurs, treat with epinephrine. Care should be used to avoid injecting your own fingers, hands, or other body parts. Accidental injection can cause serious local reactions. In case of human exposure, contact a physician.

ANTIBIOTIC: Gentamicin.

PRESERVATIVE: Thimerosal.
