Potassium Gluconate

PotassiGel Caution

Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.

Dosage:

Each 2.34 g (1/2 teaspoon) contains 2 mEq (468 mg) of potassium gluconate in a palatable base. The suggested dosage of Potassium Gel for adult cats and dogs is 2.34 g (1/2 teaspoon) per 10 lbs (4.5 kg) body weight twice daily. Dosage may be adjusted to satisfy patient's need.

Administration:

Potassium Gel is highly palatable. To initiate interest in taste, place small amount on the animal's nose or on the roof of its mouth. Gel may be placed on the paw after initial interest has been established.

PotassiGel Indications:

For use as a supplement in potassium deficient states in cats and dogs.

Warning:

Do not administer in diseases where high potassium levels may be encountered, such as severe renal insufficiency or adrenal insufficiency.

Precaution

Use with caution in the presence of cardiac disease, particularly in digitized patients or in the presence of renal disease.

Store at controlled room temperature 15°-30°C (59°-86°F).
