When will I get my first period after inserting the Implanon implant?
Medically reviewed by Drugs.com. Last updated on April 8, 2024.
I got the implant 4 days ago but still haven't started bleeding? I was on the pill when my doctor put it in. I was on roughly day 18 of my cycle. When should I expect bleeding to start?
Implanon will most likely affect your monthly cycle. Your bleeding pattern will probably become irregular. We are all different and some find that their periods change slightly, stop altogether or happen only occasionally. Others find that their periods are heavier and last longer, don’t worry if your periods stop, it doesn’t mean that you are pregnant. The changes vary from one woman to another. You are just going to have to take a "wait and see" approach.
