Can penicillin treat chlamydia?

The following antibiotics are used in the treatment of chlamydia: doxycycline, azithromycin, erythromycin, ofloxacin, or levofloxacin.
The antibiotic amoxicillin (from the penicillin family) is used for the treatment of chlamydia infections in pregnant women as an alternative to azithromycin.
