Usual Pediatric Dose for Diphtheria Prophylaxis

Primary immunization: Three 0.5 mL IM doses given in 2 month intervals beginning at the age of 2 to 3 months followed by a dose at 15 to 18 months of age. A booster should be administered at 4 to 6 years of age.

For booster doses at ages >= 7 years use the DT absorbed. A booster is recommended every 10 years.

Precautions

ACIP recommends exclusive use of acellular pertussis vaccine for all doses of the pertussis vaccine series.

Do not use for the treatment of whooping cough, tetanus, or diphtheria.
