Is Ciprofloxacin the best antibiotic for 2nd degree skin burns?

I recently burned my hand and thought I was taking care of it properly but it got infected. Please for any future readers I strongly advise you to go to the ER and get Silvadene cream and a RX For Keflex.

I have been originally given 3000 units of Keflex for the 2nd degree burn on the entire top of my right foot & 3 toes..The medicine helped but makes my mind confused. I cant wear a shoe yet, it's been 2 weeks..I now am taking 1500 units of Keflex at night, plus the slyvadine cream, a strong medicine for the severe pain and wrap it to go out. My BP is usually 120/70..It's been 168, 158, & 140.
I have a new respect for my feet & burns in general. I use the antibiotic sylvadine cream, pain killer. & pray..Never experienced this before.
Maybe in another 2 weeks I will be healed. It has been hell. Good luck..Keep in touch. In 15 days I've been back to the DR 6 times..Just a drag.

How big an area is this burn? You don't usually take an antibiotic for burns, unless they get infected. If its a large area you need to see a dr. Do not coat the burn with anything, but keep it clean, and cover it with a dressing if the air is making it hurt. Frequently silvadene cream is used on them, however you need a script for that.

I have burns the right side of my face, neck and my ear. The only one I'm worried about is my ear because it blistered pretty quick and within hours popped half by itself. Problem is I don't have insurance, my mom used Ciprofloxacin as an antibiotic and I figured since the open blister I should use something to prevent infection. Also if I'm allergic to sulfa I most likely would have a bad reaction the the silver cream wouldn't I?

I wouldn't mess around with burns on your face, you'll have scaring. There is the potential for a reaction if you're allergic to sulfa. If you went to the er they will treat you and you can pay them off monthly. I"m hesitant to say take the cipro. Antibiotics aren't always appropriate. Particularly if they aren't prescribed for you. How did you burn yourself?

A small hand torch lighter, I took it out of the package never used it and right when i pressed the trigger the lighter exploded towards the right side of my face. I'm new at this can I post pic

I dont think so, on the pic. I don't think I' d worry about dr bills, I'd just call a personal injury lawyer about the lighter exploding. I'll friend you, then we can talk privately and I'll give you my email address. All you have to do is click on the link to friend me when it comes in your email.

I Appreciate all your help. There wounds are healing up fsster then I thought. And the dr said hopefully in 3-4 weeks my face will look back to normal

I agree with Chrissybabyog about the lawyer. Did you take pictures? If not, you should now. You definitely need to see a dr. for tx and it would also be documented and you could use it in court as far as I know. Good luck.

Have you seen a doctor yet? If you have second degree burns I would suggest that you please see a doctor first.
