Ivomec Premix for Swine 0.6% Caution

Ivomec® Premix for Swine has been formulated specifically for use in swine only.

Ivomec Premix for Swine 0.6% Indications

Ivomec® (ivermectin) Premix for Swine is indicated for the treatment of infections and infestations caused by the following internal and external parasites in growing and breeding swine:

Gastrointestinal roundworms: Ascaris suum (adults and fourth-stage larvae)

Ascarops strongylina (adults)

Hyostrongylus rubidus (adults and fourth-stage larvae)

Oesophagostomum spp. (adults and fourth-stage larvae)

Strongyloides ransomi (adults and somatic larvae)

When given in the feed during the last month of gestation, Ivomec® (ivermectin) Premix for Swine prevents transmission, via the colostrum of milk, of infective S. ransomi larvae from the sows to the piglets.

Kidney worms: Stephanurus dentatus (adults and fourth-stage larvae)

Lungworms: Metastrongylus spp. (adults)

Lice: Haematopinus suis

Mites: Sarcoptes scabiei var. suis

COMPATIBILITY:

Ivomec® (ivermectin) Premix for Swine has been demonstrated to be compatible with the concurrent use of lincomycin as described in the Compendium of Medicating Ingredient Brochure.

USE DIRECTIONS:

Ivomec® Premix should be thoroughly mixed in the feed and fed continuously as the only ration for seven (7) consecutive days.

Required level of ivermectin per 1000 kg of complete medicated feed

Required amount of Ivomec® Premix per 1000 kg of complete medicated feed

Growing pigs

2.0 g

333 grams

Breeding pigs

10.0 g

1.66 kg

MIXING DIRECTIONS:

Ivomec® Premix should be thoroughly and evenly mixed in the feed in accordance with good manufacturing practices for medicated feeds. The recommended dose level, 100 μg/kg body weight daily for seven days, is obtained by including Ivomec® Premix in the complete ration at 333 g per metric tonne of feed for growing pigs or at 1.66 kg per metric tonne of feed for breeding pigs. Dispersion of the Ivomec® Premix is enhanced by diluting 1 kg of premix with 14 kg of finely ground feed ingredients. The dilute premix should be added to the complete ration at the rate of 5.0 kg per metric tonne of finished feed to be fed ad libitum for growing pigs and 25 kg per metric tonne of finished feed to be fed at the rate of 1 kg of feed per 100 kg of body weight for breeding pigs.

ENVIRONMENTAL SAFETY:

Studies indicate that when ivermectin comes in contact with the soil, it readily and tightly binds to the soil and becomes inactive over time. Drug containers and any residual contents should be disposed of safely, in accordance with local, provincial and national regulations. Free ivermectin may adversely affect fish and certain water-borne organisms.

Ivomec Premix for Swine 0.6% Caution

1. All pigs should be treated upon placement in clean quarters.

2. Since the effect of ivermectin on mites is not immediate, care must be taken to prevent transfer of infestation to untreated animals or clean facilities. Generally, pigs should not be moved to clean quarters or exposed to uninfested pigs for approximately one week after treatment.

3. Louse eggs are unaffected by ivermectin and may require up to three weeks to hatch. Louse infestations developing from hatching eggs may require retreatment.

4. Pigs exposed to contaminated premises, soil or pasture may need retreatment if reinfection occurs.

5. Consult a veterinarian for aid in the diagnosis and control of internal and external parasites of swine.
