What is clonazepam (clonazapam)?
Clonazepam (clonazapam) is a benzodiazepine. It works by increasing the activity of a naturally occurring chemical in the brain.
Clonazepam (clonazapam) is used alone or along with other medications to control certain types of seizures in the treatment of epilepsy and for the treatment of panic disorders (unexpected attacks of overwhelming panic accompanied by fear of recurrence). Clonazepam (clonazapam) may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.
Clonazepam (clonazapam) is available as a tablet or an orally disintegrating tablet (wafer). The tablets should be administered with water by swallowing the tablet whole. To take Clonazepam (clonazapam) orally disintegrating tablet open the pouch, peel back the foil, using dry hands, remove the tablet and place it in the mouth. Tablet disintegration occurs rapidly in saliva so it can be easily swallowed with or without water.
