Atenelol

Atenelol is a common misspelling of atenolol.

What is atenolol (atenelol)?

Atenolol (atenelol) belongs to a group of medicines called beta blockers. Beta blockers decrease the force and rate of heart contractions. They also widens blood vessels. These actions help to lower blood pressure and decrease chest pain caused by angina.

Atenolol (atenelol) is used to treat high blood pressure, angina pectoris (chest pain, usually caused by lack of oxygen in the heart muscle due to clogged arteries), and heart attack. Atenolol (atenelol) is also used to decrease the risk of death due to problems after a heart attack. Atenolol (atenelol) may also be used for purposes other than those listed here.

When used for treating high blood pressure atenolol (atenelol) is effective alone or when used in combination with other high blood pressure medications, particularly with a diuretic medicine.

Atenolol (atenelol) can also be used for alcohol withdrawal treatment, the prevention of migraine headaches and for relief of anxiety.
