What is Ativan (Atavan)?
Ativan (Atavan) is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders and for short-term relief of the symptoms of anxiety. Ativan (Atavan) injection is used to treat a seizure emergency called status epilepticus. Ativan (Atavan) injection is also used as a sedative to help you relax before having surgery.
Ativan (Atavan) is a benzodiazepine. It affects chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.
Tolerance and dependence can develop with the use of Ativan (Atavan). You may experience withdrawal symptoms if you stop using it abruptly. Only your doctor should advise you to discontinue or change your dose.
If you are sensitive to or have ever had an allergic reaction to Ativan (Atavan) or similar drugs such as Valium, you should not take Ativan. Also avoid Ativan (Atavan) if you have the eye disease, acute narrow-angle glaucoma.
