Balcoltra consists of 28 tablets:
21 are orange which contain the active birth control drugs, and 7 are blue which contain the inactive placebo.

Balcoltra (levonorgestrel and ethinyl estradiol tablets and ferrous bisglycinate tablets), a progestin/estrogen combination oral contraceptive from Avion Pharmaceuticals, was FDA-approved in January 2018.

- 21 orange tablets (the active birth control tablets), each contain 0.10 mg levonorgestrel and 0.02 mg ethinyl estradiol.

- 7 blue tablets (the inactive placebo tablets) each contain ferrous bisglycinate 36.5 mg. The ferrous bisglycinate tablets do not serve any therapeutic purpose.

Directions for Balcoltra: Take one tablet by mouth at the same time every day, and take the tablets in the order directed on the blister pack.
