Intravenous Pyelogram

An intravenous pyelogram (IVP) is an x-ray of your urinary system. The urinary tract includes the kidneys, ureters, bladder, and the urethra. Ureters carry urine from your kidneys to your bladder. The urethra carries urine out of your bladder when you urinate.

Ask your healthcare provider how much liquid to drink each day and which liquids are best for you. Liquids will flush any remaining contrast liquid from your body through your urine.

You may need to return to go over your IVP results. Write down your questions so you remember to ask them during your visits.
